power corrupts
why is it that the same people who have told me i need to have an open mind at work, and be open to new ideas, are the same people who get upset at someone when they have a better idea? i work my ass off to come up with the best solution to a problem, and then i show that it is the best solution. so what do they do? the throw all my work out the window and cram there solution to the same problem down my throat. so why should i bother to have an idea? why should i try to find the best solution? i mean, if all of my work will be thrown out the window, there is no point in me wasting all that time. but what i love, is after i implement there idea, get it running, and i setup my idea, and get it working, and put the two side by side, and show why my idea is so much better they say "it doesent matter" and continue on with there plan, instead of opening there eyes to the possibility that someone other than there selves came up with a good idea they want to extinguish all hope of free thinking, and prove that they are truly in charge, and just as closed minded as they accuse me of being.

In my life, I've found that most people who say they're open minded are actually the most close minded people. I've also found that people who say they want creative solutions only want creative solutions that they agree with. Unfortunately, I feel such behavior will be the norm in the IT field. Which isn't what I signed on for. We're either going to have to deal with it or become mercenaries in some third world country.
brandon, we should start a rouge IT consulting firm, that flies in the face of this standard and dares to listen to ideas and give the clients multiple choices, and educate them so that they can make the choice that is the best for there needs.
WE CAN BE THE IT MERCENARIES!!!
